Saruman The White

Realtime model of Saruman from the Lord of The Rings trilogy. Took quite a bit of time and most of that time was spent on the likeness and hair haha

The model is rendered in Unreal Engine and came to roughly 200k tri's in the end. The hair, beard and eyebrows are made of hair cards and total about 42k tri's, tho there is more room for optimization here and on the mesh in general.

As I knew a 4K map wouldn't be enough to give the robes good texel density a lot of the details use tiling texture maps and second UV sets to achieve higher fidelity on the robes. Special shout out to Laura Gallagher's ( @Outgang ) excellent textile generator that I relied on heavily with this project to get the detail I wanted.
As the embroidery is quite heavy in the design of the original robe from the movie trilogy I created special alpha's and a material that would allow me to control the strength of the embroidery metalness etc...

Big thanks to all my pals for their support and feedback
